SPECIAL NOTICE: We are currently seeking a volunteer who is passionate about animals and laundry. All of our cats and dogs are provided with warm, comfortable bedding. For that reason, we go through a tremendous amount of laundry. That special volunteer would work right here on site, where we have a laundry room equipped with washers and dryers. If you would like to contribute to our effort to keep all of our furry residents as comfortable as possible, please call Amy at (248) 335-9290.
You have read the duties and seen the shelter online. Now, it's time to attend an orientation and see if volunteering is something you really want to do.
Orientations are held at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. the first and third Saturdays of the month. To sign up for an orientation, give us a call at 248-335-9290 during regular business hours -- Tues, Thurs, Fri, Sat before 4:00 p.m., Wednesdays before 6:00 p.m.
If you like the building, the animals, and the staff, let us know when you are available and what you would like to do. Are you a cleaner or an animal socializer? Both?
If you have any animal allergies, take that into consideration.
All children under 18 years must be accompanied by a parent. Too, children must be a minimum of 12 years and accompanied by a parent to volunteer
If you decide to volunteer, before you start, you must fill out our volunteer agreement. Each person in your family volunteering must sign this paper before you begin working.
MARL welcomes community service workers and high school community service workers. If you need to put hours in for school or other reasons, MARL is a great place to spend your time while you work off your hours! -
Most important, have fun while you are with the animals, and bring some fun to their lives!
